Formula E and the Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) have finally announced the time and place of the Formula E Gen3 car launch.
The launch will take place at an event in Monaco on April 28, 2022.
Formula E fans can watch the launch via their associated digital channel. Formula E teams will start using Gen3 cars at the start of the 2022-2023 season. Formula E teams are expected to start testing with the new car this spring.
The FIA first shared early details of the Gen3 at the end of last year. The Gen3 car has a motor capable of producing 350kW of power and a top speed of 200 miles per hour.
It will also include front and rear powertrains, a first for a formula car. With a total power of 600kW, the Gen3 will have twice the capability of the current Gen2 Formula E car.
The FIA has also promised the Gen3 will be the most sustainable vehicle (net-zero carbon footprint) today. Even the carbon fiber used can be recycled.
