Ford has recently introduced updates to its hands-free driving technology, BlueCruise 1.4, making it more accessible for customers. The automaker has announced a range of subscription options that allow for greater flexibility, including monthly and annual plans, as well as a new one-time purchase option.

Customers can now opt for a one-time subscription for $2,495 when ordering their vehicle. However, this subscription is not a ‘lifetime’ service, as the fine print indicates that BlueCruise will be active for a minimum of seven years. After this period, Ford may adjust pricing or discontinue support for the vehicle.

Depending on the model and trim, a one-year subscription to BlueCruise could be included at the time of purchase. If it is not included, customers can acquire it for $495. For those who do not opt for the one-year subscription, a complimentary 90-day trial is available. At the end of the trial, an annual subscription will cost $495, a reduction from the previous annual fee of $800.

For infrequent long-distance travelers, Ford offers a monthly subscription option priced at $49.99, down from the previous $75 per month.

In addition to the cost reductions, Ford is expanding the availability of BlueCruise to new models and trims for 2025. While specific details were not provided, the semi-autonomous driving system will be featured in popular models such as the Explorer, Expedition, F-150, F-150 Lightning, and Mustang Mach-E, as well as various Lincoln models, including the new 2025 Navigator.

These enhancements build on the recent announcement that BlueCruise 1.4 will remain in hands-free mode for longer periods without interruption. The updated system also introduces a new motion controller aimed at minimizing side-to-side movement within a lane, further enhancing the driving experience.
