Ford Teases Performance F-150 Lightning Concept

Ford’s CEO Jim Farley has given Daniel Ricciardo, Red Bull’s marketing driver, a sneak peek of some highly anticipated electric performance vehicles. This includes a concept version of the Ford F-150 Lightning, which has sparked speculation among fans of the brand. Farley used the term “demonstrators,” suggesting that there may be more than one vehicle in the works.

The recent Ford Performance infographic shows a roadmap for the brand’s future, including a blanked-out Ford Mustang racer and the F-150 Lightning-based demonstrator, as well as a new off-road truck. In 2026, Ford and Red Bull will collaborate and share intellectual property to meet new engine regulations. Ford will be responsible for 100% of the electric power unit, which is required to be 50% electric.

Farley has also revealed that Red Bull Racing is already helping Ford develop an electric vehicle. Red Bull engineers are working with Ford’s “skunkworks” team, which suggests that the focus is on speed rather than affordability. It’s possible that we will see Red Bull limited edition vehicles, possibly named after their drivers, in the near future.

The new F-150 Lightning concept sits much lower to the ground and features a unique purple/blue hue. However, the most powerful F-150 Lightning currently produces only 580 horsepower and 775 lb-ft of torque, which may not be enough to carry the Red Bull badge. Ford could potentially introduce a quad-motor powertrain, similar to the seven-motor system found in the Mustang Mach-E 1400, which produced 1,400 hp.

With the Red Bull and Ford collaboration set to begin in 2026, fans can expect to see exciting developments in the near future. The partnership between these two brands has the potential to create some truly impressive vehicles that showcase the best of both worlds.
