The increase in the price of raw materials has made more and more electric vehicle manufacturers to increase the prices of their products.
Most recently, Ford raised the price of the Ford Mustang Mach-E electric SUV in the UK by more than Ā£6000. Prices for the Ford Mustang Mach-E start at Ā£47,530, up from the original launch price of Ā£41,330.
Of the several variants, there is only one available for under Ā£50,000 with Standard Range RWD. The Extended Range RWD variant is now priced from Ā£52,080, up from the previous price of Ā£49,980.
Ford said rising raw materials such as steel and energy prices made production more expensive than before.
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine led to a sharp rise in energy prices due to the loss of energy supplies from Russia. Previously Volkswagen had to delay production of the ID.5 due to a lack of wiring.
Previously, Ford also raised the price of the Mustang Mach-E in Germany, up to 56,500 euros from the previous price of 47,500 euros.
