Ford Europe describes the production of electric cars that will take place on the continent. Namely appointing a factory in Valencia, Spain, as the location for assembling electric cars, while the factory in Cologne, Germany will start producing Electric Vehicles (EV) starting in 2023.
The Ford Motor Company plant in Spain will assemble vehicles based on the next-generation EV architecture.
While the factory in Germany was converted to become an electric car assembly location with an investment of 2 billion United States (US) dollars. It includes the state-of-the-art Cologne Electrification Center, as well as being Ford’s first European power plant in Germany.
Talking about the next generation of electric car architecture or the new generation, Ford Motor Company stated that this is an important step in transforming their brand image in Europe in achieving an all-electric future.
Ford Motor Company has set a target of selling about 600,000 electric vehicles annually by 2026. By increasing its factory in Spain, the American company is looking to increase its offerings of premium, high-performance, fully-connected electric vehicles that are in high demand in Europe.
Jim Farley, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ford Motor Company stated that his company aims to achieve a sustainable business in Europe.
