Ford Motor is facing a proposed class action lawsuit in the United States over claims that some F-150 Lightning electric pickup trucks were sold without a promised safety feature, according to a court filing cited by Car Complaints.
The case, Ibrahim Lunawadawal v. Ford Motor Company, was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California by law firms Nye, Stirling, Hale, Miller & Sweet and Sauder Schelkopf. The lawsuit centers on allegations that a 2024 F-150 Lightning purchased by one of the plaintiffs was advertised as being equipped with Ford’s Forward Sensing System on the vehicle’s window sticker, but the feature was not actually installed.

According to the complaint, the owner later received a letter from Ford acknowledging that the window sticker was incorrect and that the truck did not include the Forward Sensing System as built. Ford offered a $100 refund, which the automaker reportedly extended to other affected owners as well.
The plaintiff argues that the compensation was insufficient and that the missing feature reduced the value of the vehicle. The lawsuit states that the buyer “has suffered an ascertainable loss because of Ford’s misrepresentations, including but not limited to, diminished value of his vehicle and other consequential damages,” according to the filing.

Ford’s Forward Sensing System is designed to warn drivers of nearby objects at low speeds using audible alerts that increase in frequency as the vehicle approaches an obstacle. The lawsuit disputes Ford’s characterization of the issue as a simple labeling error, alleging that the company “has been unwilling to provide adequate compensation to aggrieved consumers” despite the claimed damages.
Ford has not publicly commented on the lawsuit. The legal action comes as Ford’s electric truck business also faces separate supplier-related litigation tied to delays of its next-generation F-150 Lightning, now postponed until 2028
