Since hitting the road in February 2022, the Ford E-Transit has clocked up an impressive 12 million miles across the US and Canada. The numbers provided by Ford reveal the extent to which the electric van has saved on fuel costs and reduced carbon emissions.
Although transitioning all gas-powered vehicles to electric vehicles (EVs) is the ultimate goal, the larger the vehicle and the further it travels, the more significant the impact. If all commercial vehicles, semi-trucks, vans, etc. were switched to EVs, it would result in massive savings on fuel costs and have an even more substantial positive impact on the environment.

Ford has sold the E-Transit to buyers in all 50 states during its first year on the market, delivering a total of 6,500 electric vans by the end of 2022. The E-Transit is the best-selling electric van in many regions worldwide, with Ford confirming it represents around 61% of the entire market for such electric vehicles.
According to Ford, the E-Transit has already saved approximately 745,000 gallons of gas that would have been necessary to power similar gas-powered vans. In addition, the use of electric vans has reduced CO2 output by over 4.3 million kilograms, representing a 57% reduction compared to what would have been emitted by vans with internal combustion engines.
The success of the E-Transit is only the beginning for Ford, with the automaker investing $95 million to increase annual production by an impressive 38,000 units. The production increase is set to begin within the next month, creating 1,100 new union jobs.
