Foil. One, a Finnish company specializing in hydrodynamic electric watercraft, has unveiled its flagship product, the Pegasus, a single-seat electric hydrofoil boat. The Pegasus combines impressive performance with an aesthetically appealing design, drawing inspiration from the aerodynamics of 1950s Formula 1 cars and World War I aircraft.
Founded with the goal of advancing all-electric marine mobility, Foil. One aims to create a sustainable future where adventure and environmental stewardship coexist. The company emphasizes innovation and design in developing the Pegasus, which showcases elements of strength, power, fun, and sustainability.
Constructed entirely from carbon fiber, the Pegasus is designed to be both lightweight and robust, enabling it to glide above the waterâs wake and travel longer distances. The hydrofoil boat is powered by an 18.8 kW electric motor and is equipped with two swappable 5 kWh 48V battery packs supplied by Torqeedo. With a Torqeedo 2,900W fast charger, the batteries can be fully recharged in under two hours, facilitating quick turnaround times for users.
The Pegasus offers cruising speeds between 18 and 20 knots (20.7-23 mph) and can reach a top speed of 30 knots (34.5 mph). On a single charge, the hydrofoil can operate for over two hours. Foil. One describes the experience of piloting the Pegasus as more akin to operating a fighter jet than a traditional hydrofoil boat, while also being user-friendly, similar to riding a bike.
Currently available for pre-order, the Pegasus can be customized to meet individual customer preferences. The base price starts at âŹ139,900 ($151,355), while the all-inclusive pricing, which includes the two battery packs and the Torqeedo fast charger, totals âŹ150,502 ($162,825).
