Flexis, a joint venture between Renault, Volvo Group, and shipping giant CMA CGM, has received letters of intent for 15,000 units of its new electric van from 10 European transport and distribution companies, the company said on Tuesday.

Among the buyers are France’s Colis Privé, a CMA CGM subsidiary, UK-based Hived, and Germany’s DB Schenker. The remaining customers have not been disclosed. The orders will contribute to sales under the Renault and Renault Trucks (Volvo) brands.

The European market is seeing increased demand for electric vans as cities impose stricter limits on petrol and diesel vehicles. However, adoption remains slow due to limited model availability and high costs. In 2024, only 6.1% of new vans registered in Europe were electric, down from 7.2% in 2023, according to ACEA data released Tuesday.

“Change is always slow at the beginning,” said Flexis Managing Director Philippe Divry. “But as soon as someone brings a product that is realistic, economically and operationally, customers will switch quickly.”
