Ferrari plans to introduce a €7,000 annual battery subscription tailored for its affluent customer base, offering extended warranty coverage and potential enhancements to resale value. Sources familiar with the initiative disclosed that subscribers will be eligible for a battery replacement after eight years, applicable to hybrid Ferrari models and the brand’s forthcoming electric vehicles.

According to Bloomberg, the subscription also includes comprehensive coverage for battery-related defects, providing owners with enhanced reassurance. Subscribers opting for the service will automatically schedule a second battery pack replacement upon their vehicle’s 16th year.

Standard warranties for new Ferrari models currently span three years, a period notably shorter compared to competitors in the luxury automotive sector. Hybrid models, however, benefit from a five-year warranty specifically covering battery and related components, while other manufacturers typically offer eight-year warranties for their hybrid and electric vehicles.

The battery subscription initiative, spearheaded by CEO Benedetto Vigna, is positioned to diversify revenue streams while bolstering the brand’s appeal in the transition towards electric mobility. Ferrari anticipates that this offering will not only fortify resale values but also incentivize customers to shift away from traditional combustion engines.

Over an eight-year period, Ferrari owners subscribing to the service face a total expenditure of €56,000 (~$60,000), which doubles to €112,000 (~$120,000) over 16 years. While substantial, this cost is unlikely to deter Ferrari’s high-end clientele from opting for the service, aligning with the brand’s reputation for premium pricing and exclusivity.
