FAW Toyota has launched the 2027 bZ5 in China, introducing the first annual update for its battery-electric coupe SUV around 14 months after the model entered the market. The refreshed bZ5 remains available in six variants, with official starting prices unchanged at between 129,800 yuan and 199,800 yuan.
For a limited period, FAW Toyota is offering the lineup from 109,800 yuan to 179,800 yuan, with a 20,000-yuan reduction across the range.
Updated Driver Assistance System
The main focus of the 2027 Toyota bZ5 update is its driver-assistance technology.
Toyota Pilot has been upgraded from Momenta 5.0 to Momenta 6.0, based on the R6 reinforcement-learning foundation model developed by Chinese autonomous driving technology company Momenta.

The system uses a computing chip delivering 544 TOPS and supports functions including urban navigation-assisted driving.
FAW Toyota also introduced its IT’S TiME 4.0 technology framework, which is designed to support the development of its electrified and intelligent vehicle products in China.
bZ5 Pricing and Customer Benefits
The official prices of the six bZ5 variants remain between 129,800 yuan and 199,800 yuan.
FAW Toyota’s limited-time pricing reduces each version by 20,000 yuan, consisting of a 16,000-yuan cash incentive and a 4,000-yuan trade-in subsidy.

The automaker is also offering interest-free financing, a lifetime warranty covering the battery, motor and electric control system for the first owner, and a free home charging unit.
Battery and Electric Powertrain
The updated bZ5 uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) Blade Battery packs supplied by BYD.
Two battery capacities are available: 65.28 kWh and 73.98 kWh. They provide CLTC driving ranges of 550 kilometres and 630 kilometres, respectively.
Power comes from a front-mounted electric motor producing up to 200 kW, equivalent to 268 hp. The motor output remains unchanged from the previous model.
Dimensions and Interior Technology
The 2027 bZ5 measures 4,780 mm long, 1,866 mm wide and 1,510 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,880 mm.

Inside, the electric SUV features a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, a 10-speaker JBL audio system and 50 W wireless charging.
Toyota’s China EV Strategy
The bZ5 originally launched in China in June 2025 as part of Toyota’s response to increasing competition from domestic electric vehicle manufacturers.
The 2027 update retains the previous model’s core electric powertrain and battery options while placing greater emphasis on driver-assistance technology and intelligent vehicle functions.
The combination of updated software, unchanged battery choices and revised purchasing incentives gives FAW Toyota a refreshed version of the bZ5 as competition in China’s electric vehicle market continues to develop.
