Fast-charging provider Fastned has added three new fast-charging locations in Europe, including one on Germany’s A2 highway near Porta Westfalica and two in the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland, strengthening its network along key traffic corridors.

The Löwenburg parking area on the A2, part of Germany’s Deutschlandnetz initiative, features three Alpitronic HYC400 chargers offering six charging points with a minimum 200 kW and peak 400 kW output.

Fastned charges 0.73 euros per kilowatt-hour at this location, consistent with other Deutschlandnetz sites, with payment options via app or card. The new hub follows earlier openings at the Neufelder Heide-Süd, Jalm, and Jalmer Moor rest areas, part of contracts awarded in February 2024 under the Deutschlandnetz program, in which Fastned secured 34 locations.

In Switzerland, the Lavorgo Nord and Süd rest areas now host Fastned’s signature yellow-canopy stations, each equipped with two HYC400 chargers offering two CCS connectors (up to 400 kW) and one CHAdeMO connector (up to 50 kW).

According to Fastned, the two new charging locations are “strategically significant. They position the company along one of Europe’s most critical traffic corridors, perfectly complementing the European charging infrastructure.” The new hubs join eleven other Fastned stations in Switzerland, awarded under the 2019 ASTRA tender for rest-area charging along national roads.

Fastned plans to open another Swiss location in Kloten in November, its first site in the country with a kiosk and restrooms, which will operate outside the ASTRA network. The company said the expansions further integrate its network across Europe, complementing major highways and cross-border corridors.
