French software company Exwayz has raised €1 million to accelerate development of its GPS-independent positioning technology for autonomous vehicles, robots and industrial systems operating in complex or signal-restricted environments. The funding round was led by CentraleSupélec Venture and includes a grant from France’s i-Lab Innovation Competition under the France 2030 program.
The company develops LiDAR-based SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) software that provides real-time, centimeter-level localization without relying on satellite signals. Co-founder and CEO Hassan Bouchiba said the company aims to make high-precision 3D localization “accessible to manufacturers of autonomous systems across industry, mobility, logistics, and safety applications.”
The technology is designed for use in GPS-denied environments such as ports, warehouses, industrial facilities and dense urban areas where traditional navigation systems face interference or signal obstruction.
The financing will be used to strengthen Exwayz’s R&D team, including specialists in algorithms, 3D vision and data science, and to enhance industrial robustness of its SLAM platform. The company plans to expand commercial deployments through new partnerships and pilot projects. Exwayz operates from 21st by CentraleSupélec, a deep-tech accelerator at Station F in Paris.
CentraleSupélec Venture managing director Cédric Curtil said the investment supports a company that is already serving more than 20 clients at an early stage of development.
The SLAM technology is being deployed in multiple sectors. Swiss firm Embotech uses Exwayz software for autonomous truck navigation in ports and logistics hubs, including a planned deployment of 30 autonomous trucks at the Port of Rotterdam in 2026. “The partnership delivers LiDAR-based localization and mapping capabilities with consistent quality and feature improvements,” said Embotech COO Giorgio Corbellini.
In the United States, Cyvl.ai uses Exwayz SLAM to map tens of thousands of kilometers of roads each year for more than 200 municipalities. CEO Daniel Pelaez said Exwayz software supports the company’s SLAM pipelines to generate accurate 3D point clouds for road infrastructure management.
Former Stellantis executive Yves Bonnefont has joined Exwayz as a non-executive advisor and investor. His background includes senior roles at McKinsey, founding DS Automobiles and leading software and digital transformation initiatives at Stellantis.
