Evergrande New Energy Vehicle Group has started deliveries of Hengchi 5 electric vehicles to its first 100 customers, the company said on its official Wechat account.
The first 100 customers got their electric vehicles on Saturday. The Hengchi 5 electric SUV alone retails for 179,000 yuan ($24,690.00).
Dimensionally, the Hengchi 5 is 4.73 meters long with a lithium-phosphate battery supplied by CATL. Using a 201 hp electric motor, the Hengchi has a range of 435 miles (700 km) on a single charge according to the NEDC test cycle.
Evergrande New Energy Vehicle Group is a unit of Chinese property developer Evergrande Group and launched production of the Hengchi 5 electric SUV at a factory in the northern city of Tianjin last month.
Evergrande plans to shift the group’s main business from real estate to electric vehicles over the next decade. The company targets to make 1 million vehicles by 2025.
The company’s second model will be mass produced in the first half of 2023 and the third in the second half of next year.
