Tesla is already well known for its electric car products around the world. However, they are rather difficult to compete with other brands such as Wuling or Toyota.
However, Tesla still maintained its title as the king of electric cars in the global market last year. They provide a fairly high sales contribution when compared to other brands.
Over the past year, there were 4.2 million pure electric cars sold worldwide. With this, the sales of EV models increased by 108 percent compared to 2020, and 198 percent in 2019. This is a very bright achievement for the green car market.

55 percent of sales contributed from the China, followed by Europe as much as 29 percent, North America 12 percent, and the rest from other regions. There can be no doubt that the sales of electric vehicles in the country are very high and this trend has continued for several years. Moreover, Wuling is quite superior there with the Hongguang Mini EV and other electric models.
But for the global market, Wuling’s electric car sales still cannot outperform Tesla. Year Tesla was able to sell up to more than 900 thousand units. With this Tesla dominates 21 percent of electric vehicle sales worldwide.

Maybe this number is quite small, but remember that there are lots of car brands that also sell electric cars. Such as Volkswagen Group, SGMW (SAIC-General Motors-Wuling), BYD, Hyundai-Kia, Stellantis, Great Wall Motor (GWM), Renault Group, and BMW Group. In the electric vehicle market alone, Tesla must be ‘battered’ by a car alliance that is quite strong in the four-wheel market.
But whatever it is, its sales are able to outperform its competitors, where other brands are only able to sell less than 500 thousand units. That makes Tesla’s dominance in the electric car market even stronger.
