Italian car-sharing provider Enjoy has made a significant move by adding 100 electric cars to its fleet in Rome. This marks a notable shift for the company, as it previously only offered combustion engine models in the Italian capital, while electric vehicles had already been integrated into their fleets in other cities.
The newly introduced electric cars, provided by the Italian start-up XEV, are the XEV Yoyo model. These vehicles boast a range of approximately 150 kilometers and have a speed limit of 80 km/h. They can be charged at regular charging stations or utilize a swappable battery. Notably, certain Eni service stations already offer battery swapping, providing users with greater convenience and flexibility.
Enjoy, a car-sharing brand under Eni Sustainable Mobility, operates on a free-floating model, meaning that the vehicles do not have fixed parking spaces or stations and can be parked anywhere within the city. The company takes responsibility for charging the vehicles and assures users that the cars will always have a minimum battery level of 30 percent.
Stefano Ballista, CEO of Eni Sustainable Mobility, highlighted the positive impact of Enjoy’s car-sharing service in Rome, which has been available for nine years. He emphasized that the service has become an integral part of the local public transport ecosystem, facilitating mobility for citizens and contributing to the overall sustainability of urban transportation. Ballista further expressed Eni Sustainable Mobility’s commitment to achieving Eni’s ambitious goal of Net Zero by 2050. Electric car-sharing, along with other solutions, is seen as a viable option for decarbonizing the transport sector.
Similar to other vehicles in the Enjoy fleet, the electric cars can be booked for 29 cents per minute, with an additional 1-euro start-up fee. Enjoy currently offers a wide selection of over 3,000 vehicles in Milan, Turin, Bologna, Florence, and Rome, catering to the diverse needs of its users.
By incorporating electric cars into its car-sharing service, Enjoy is taking a significant step towards promoting sustainable mobility in Rome. The introduction of these clean and eco-friendly vehicles demonstrates the company’s commitment to providing environmentally responsible transportation options and contributing to a greener future.
