Electrify America has completed a 1,765-mile demonstration drive along the US East Coast, aiming to highlight charging network reliability and long-distance travel capability ahead of the holiday season. The six-day trip covered 14 states, relying exclusively on Electrify America stations from Portland, Maine, to Key West, Florida.
The demonstration was conducted by Rachel Moses, Electrify America’s senior director of sales and marketing, following an online challenge from a Reddit user to complete a long-range journey using only the company’s fast-charging infrastructure. The route included 15 charging stops, among them the company’s first operational station installed in 2018 in Chicopee, Massachusetts, and a New York site developed in partnership with the New York Power Authority to support the NY EVolve Network.
Two electric vehicles were used during the trip: a 2025 Volkswagen ID. Buzz for the northern portion of the route ending in Reston, Virginia, and a 2025 Ford Mustang Mach-E for the southern leg to Key West. The vehicle handoff occurred at Electrify America’s Center of Excellence in Reston, where the company highlighted preparations for long-distance EV travel during holiday periods.
Electrify America said the drive demonstrates network readiness as AAA forecasts roughly 82 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles during the Thanksgiving period. The company operates more than 1,000 stations with over 5,000 chargers across 47 states and the District of Columbia. Electrify America continues to invest more than $2 billion in zero-emission vehicle infrastructure, with its Electrify Commercial division providing charging services for fleets and commercial operators.
