EHang Holdings said it has completed the first public flight of its VT35 electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, marking a key milestone in the development of its next-generation unmanned aviation platform. The flight took place on December 28 at Bailong Airport in Hefei, eastern China, the company said in a statement.

The VT35 is an upgraded version of EHang’s earlier VT30 model and is designed for medium- to long-range operations, including intercity, cross-sea, and mountainous transport. EHang said the successful test validated the aircraft’s flight performance, safety, and stability, laying the foundation for future airworthiness certification and expanded commercial use. The company unveiled the VT35 in October and has positioned it as a core platform for longer-range aerial mobility.

The aircraft features a full-load range of about 200 kilometers and a maximum takeoff weight of 950 kilograms. It measures roughly 8 meters in length and wingspan, with a height of about 3 meters, and is designed to operate from existing urban takeoff and landing infrastructure, including rooftops, parks, and designated vertiports. EHang said the VT35 is compatible with the company’s existing EH216-S infrastructure and can support a wide range of urban and regional transport scenarios.

Alongside the VT35 flight, EHang also conducted demonstration flights of its EH216-S and EH216-F models. The EH216-S is designed for urban passenger transport and sightseeing, while the EH216-F is tailored for firefighting and emergency response operations.

The company said the demonstrations underscored the maturity of its autonomous aerial vehicle portfolio. EHang previously set the official price of the EH216-S at RMB 2.39 million ($335,000) and continues to position the model as a core offering in its low-altitude economy strategy.
