Dutch electric bus manufacturer Ebusco has reported a significant increase in its order book for 2022, with a total of 1,474 buses contracted, up from 325 at the end of 2021. The company has also provided some preliminary figures ahead of the release of its full-year results on 29 March 2023.
In Europe, 78 Ebusco battery-electric buses were registered in 2022, and the company says it has made progress in transitioning the Ebusco 3.0 from prototype production to serial production.

Despite challenges in the labour market and supply chain disruptions, Ebusco has expanded its workforce from 309 to 607 full-time equivalents (FTEs) by the end of 2022. The company has invested heavily in its tooling, equipment and supply chain to support the growth of its business.
However, some supply chain constraints and a resurgence of COVID-19 in China have led to longer assembly times and delays in revenue recognition for some orders.
Ebusco has also reported delays in the delivery of 90 Ebusco 2.2 buses for BVG Berlin due to availability of customer-specific IT systems, heating, and cooling systems. The manufacturer has since improved availability and delivered the first batch of 17 buses to BVG in January 2023.

Feedback from BVG regarding the operational performance of the Ebusco 2.2 has been positive, with the buses reportedly performing well in terms of drivability, reliability and range, even in winter conditions.
