EasyGo has been awarded a landmark 20-year contract worth approximately £300 million to provide electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across northern Scotland, covering the Highland, Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, and Moray council areas.

The contract marks the first inter-council EV infrastructure partnership in northern Scotland, awarded under the Scottish Government’s Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Fund, and represents the largest grant allocated since the fund’s inception.

Under the agreement, EasyGo will install 570 new charging points by 2028 and assume responsibility for the operation and maintenance of 425 existing council-owned chargers—comprising 133 DC fast chargers and 292 AC points. The partnership also encompasses access to over 50 hub locations designated for high-capacity charging deployment.

Ollie Chatten, CEO of EasyGo, said, “The Scottish councils’ commitment to becoming Net Zero by 2030 aligns perfectly with EasyGo’s mission. We are thrilled to support them in achieving this goal through our EV charging solutions as we help build the smart towns and cities of the future.” He added, “Working with progressive councils across the country to expand EV infrastructure is a vital step toward a more sustainable and future-focused Scotland. This project allows us to bring our proven expertise to the forefront, delivering a reliable and efficient charging network that will power Scotland’s journey to Net Zero.”

Fiona Hyslop, Scotland’s Cabinet Secretary for Transport, highlighted the broader government efforts: “I’m pleased that over £7 million from the Scottish Government is transforming public electric vehicle infrastructure across the north of Scotland. Our £30 million Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Fund has now been fully allocated to support this type of collaboration across the country and is expected to support the delivery of around 6,000 additional public charge points by 2030.” She added that the north of Scotland project is expected to attract over £4.9 million in matched private investment over the next three years, expanding the availability and reliability of public EV charging in the region.

This contract exemplifies Scotland’s growing commitment to accelerating EV adoption and supporting the country’s ambitious Net Zero goals by the end of the decade.
