DS Automobiles reported that its DS N°8 electric vehicle (EV) completed a 750 km journey on minor roads without recharging, surpassing its WLTP-rated highway range of 500 km. The test highlights the vehicle’s real-world efficiency and the brand’s focus on long-range electric mobility.

Two DS N°8 Etoile FWD Long Range models undertook the trip from Vélizy to Biscarrosse, finishing with more than 50 km of estimated range remaining.

Average energy consumption during the test was 11.7 kWh/100 km, below the WLTP-rated figure of 12.9 kWh/100 km. The journey was conducted at average speeds of 54 km/h, with ambient temperatures between 12°C and 19°C.

The vehicle’s 97.2 kWh high-density battery, developed and manufactured by Automotive Cells Company (ACC) in France, achieved an energy density of 264 Wh/kg. The electric motor was assembled in Trémery, underscoring DS Automobiles’ reliance on French engineering for its EV technology.

The DS N°8 features aerodynamic design with a drag coefficient of 0.24, premium materials, and a range-oriented layout aimed at long-distance travel. Xavier Peugeot, DS Automobiles CEO, said, “It’s no longer the battery that requires you to stop for charging: DS N°8, the game changer in 100% electric long-distance autonomy, serving the Art of Travel.”
