Dongfeng Motor’s premium electric off-road brand M-Hero has expanded its M817 plug-in hybrid SUV lineup with a new top-end Max+ version, adding longer electric range and higher pricing. The new variant follows the launch of the M817 last month.
The M817 Max+ starts at RMB 369,900 ($51,950), compared with the previously launched Pro and Max versions priced at RMB 319,900 and RMB 349,900 respectively. The Max+ is equipped with CATL’s larger 50.4-kWh Freevoy battery, which supports a 215-kilometer electric range.
When fully fueled and charged, the Max+ achieves a combined range of 1,365 kilometers. By contrast, the Pro and Max trims carry smaller 31.7-kWh packs, offering a 140-kilometer range and up to 1,300 kilometers of combined range.
The M817 is positioned as a hard-core off-road plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), measuring 5,100 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and 1,899/1,919 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,005 mm. Its dimensions place it in the large SUV segment, emphasizing off-road capability alongside extended range performance.
Key features include Huawei’s ADS 4 advanced driver assistance system and the HarmonySpace 5 cockpit, highlighting the brand’s integration of smart driving and connected technology into its off-road-focused lineup.
