Aito, the automotive brand backed by Huawei and Seres Group, has officially launched the updated M7 SUV, a refreshed version of one of its most important models. The unveiling took place on Tuesday during an event for Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA), with customer deliveries scheduled to begin on Sept. 26.
The updated M7 comes with a starting price of RMB 279,800 ($39,350), an RMB 8,200 reduction from the RMB 288,000 pre-sale price announced earlier this month. The pricing adjustment appears to have fueled strong demand: within five minutes of its official launch, the SUV recorded more than 10,000 firm orders, according to HIMA. Earlier in the day, Aito reported that cumulative pre-orders had already surpassed 230,000 since sales began on Sept. 5.

The SUV is available in both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants, broadening its offering beyond its predecessor, which only provided EREV options. Customers can also choose between five-seat and six-seat layouts, with a total of 12 trims available.
The vehicle features larger dimensions compared to the previous model, measuring 5,080 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1,780 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,030 mm. Power batteries are supplied by CATL, China’s largest battery maker. The EREV variants offer 37 kWh and 53 kWh battery packs, delivering a combined range of up to 1,625 km when fully fueled and charged. The BEV variant includes a 100-kWh battery pack, capable of up to 710 km of range.

Performance has also been enhanced, with single-motor and dual-motor configurations available. The most powerful dual-motor version can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in as little as 4.7 seconds, placing it in direct competition with Li Auto’s L6 and L7, Xpeng’s G9, and Leapmotor’s C16.
The M7 first debuted in July 2022, and has since seen multiple updates. Huawei introduced the previous M7 refresh in September 2023, followed by the launch of the M7 Ultra in May 2024 and the M7 Pro series in August. The latest update continues Aito’s push to expand its footprint in China’s premium new energy vehicle market, where competition is intensifying amid aggressive pricing strategies and rapid technological upgrades.
