Dongfeng has developed two solid-state battery products offering energy densities of 240 Wh/kg and 350 Wh/kg, capable of supporting driving ranges exceeding 1,000 km. These batteries combine high energy density with robust safety performance, having successfully passed China’s mandatory GB38031-2020 safety standards and endurance tests involving puncture, 50% compression deformation, and sustained exposure to 150°C heat.
The company began its solid-state battery research in 2018, establishing a specialized project team focused on both cell-level and system-level innovations. Its first-generation solid-state battery system was completed in 2019, with the first prototype vehicle following in 2020.
