Denza, the premium new energy vehicle (NEV) brand under BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY), has outlined its key product developments for 2025. The brand announced plans to launch the Denza N9 SUV in the first quarter and a new multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) later in the year, according to an open letter shared by Zhao Changjiang, Denza’s sales chief, on Weibo.
The Denza N9, previewed since October 2024, will feature BYD’s e3 technology, a scaled-down adaptation of the e⁴ platform used in BYD’s ultra-luxury vehicles. The e3 system includes tri-motor independent drive with dual-motor steering at the rear wheels, enhancing performance and handling.
Regulatory filings indicate that the N9 is a six-seat hybrid SUV with dimensions of 5,258 mm (length), 2,030 mm (width), and 1,830 mm (height), along with a 3,125 mm wheelbase. It will combine three electric motors—one at the front (200 kW) and two at the rear (240 kW each)—and a 1,995 ml engine producing 152 kW.
Denza will also release a new MPV in 2025, larger and more powerful than its current D9 MPV. However, details of this model remain undisclosed.
Denza’s lineup currently includes the N7 SUV, Z9 sedan, Z9GT hatchback, and D9 MPV. The D9, launched in August 2022, has been a consistent performer, with monthly sales averaging 10,000 units.
In December 2024, Denza delivered a record 15,059 vehicles, bringing its annual sales to 126,035 units. While overall sales were flat year-over-year, the D9 remains a strong contributor to the brand’s performance.
