BYD’s premium brand Denza will release an updated version of its N9 large luxury SUV on Sept. 17, the company announced on Weibo, aiming to strengthen its position in the high-end SUV market. The refreshed model comes just six months after the N9’s initial launch in March.
The N9, Denza’s flagship six-seat hybrid SUV, measures 5,258 mm in length, 2,030 mm in width, 1,830 mm in height, and has a 3,125 mm wheelbase. Powered by BYD’s e3 technology, the vehicle accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds despite a weight of up to 3,245 kg. The original model was offered in two variants, starting at 389,800 yuan ($54,700) and 449,800 yuan.
Sales of the N9 reached 20,136 units by the end of August, contributing to Denza’s total August deliveries of 11,993 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 20.06 percent. August figures included 8,712 units of the D9 MPV, 1,102 units of the Z9 series, 2,021 N9 units, and 158 N7 units.
Denza also announced that renowned Chinese actress Gao Yuanyuan will serve as the brand ambassador for the updated N9.
In parallel, the company is preparing the launch of a new SUV, the six-seat N8L, next year. The N8L measures 5,200 mm long, 1,999 mm wide, and 1,820/1,990 mm high, with a wheelbase of 3,075 mm, offering curb weight options of 2,980 kg and 3,040 kg and a top speed of 220 km/h.
