BYD’s premium marque Denza has opened pre-sales for the N9 flash charging edition, as it looks to strengthen its position in China’s large luxury SUV market.
The new variant is priced between 450,000 yuan ($65,620) and 500,000 yuan during the pre-sales phase, above the standard N9’s range of 389,800 yuan to 449,800 yuan. Final retail pricing is expected to be lower when the model officially launches, in line with common practice in the Chinese market.
The updated N9 introduces BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery and a new fast-charging system, which the company says significantly improves energy replenishment performance. According to Denza, the vehicle can be fully charged in approximately nine minutes. Even in temperatures as low as minus 30 degrees Celsius, charging time increases by only about three minutes due to an enhanced thermal management system.
Under the CLTC testing standard, the plug-in hybrid SUV’s pure electric range rises to 420 kilometres, up from 230 kilometres in the standard version.
The N9 retains its large SUV proportions, measuring 5,258 mm in length, 2,030 mm in width and 1,830 mm in height, with a 3,125 mm wheelbase. Its exterior design remains oriented toward both business and family use, featuring a closed front fascia with an ակտիվ grille and 22-inch mirror-finished wheels.
The powertrain combines a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine designed for plug-in hybrid systems with three electric motors, delivering a total output of 680 kW. The configuration enables acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.
The model is also equipped with BYD’s God’s Eye 5.0 advanced driver assistance system, alongside e3 technology and the DiSus-A body control system. Additional features include dual-motor rear-wheel steering, a compass turn function and a 15-degree crab-walk mode.
