Deepal, the electric vehicle subsidiary of Changan Automobile, has launched an updated version of its SL03 electric sedan amid a fierce price war coinciding with the Chinese Lunar Year of the Dragon.
The SL03 is available in battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants, with the BEV receiving the latest updates.
For the 2024 model year, Deepal is offering three versions of the SL03 BEV, priced at RMB 156,900 ($21,820), RMB 163,900, and RMB 173,900, respectively.
The two lower-priced models feature a 58.89 kWh battery pack, offering a CLTC range of 530 kilometers. The highest-priced variant is equipped with a 66.8 kWh battery pack, providing a CLTC range of 610 kilometers.
Compared to the previous SL03 BEV models, which were priced starting from RMB 163,900 and RMB 191,900, Deepal has reduced the starting price by RMB 7,000 for the latest iteration while slightly improving the entry-level model’s range.
Additionally, Deepal is offering buyers of the SL03 BEV a cash discount of RMB 10,000 or a combination of RMB 6,000 cash discount and RMB 6,000 option fund.
The SL03 BEV measures 4,820 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,480 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm.
It is powered by a single electric motor, with the two lower-priced versions delivering a peak motor power of 160 kW and accelerating from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 6.9 seconds. The highest-priced variant boasts a peak power of 190 kW, achieving 0-100 km/h acceleration in 6.2 seconds.
