Decathlon has introduced the Rockrider E-EXPL 900 26″ electric mountain bike, aimed at younger riders, at the Roc d’Azur 2024 event. Designed specifically for children, this new model is expected to launch in 2025 and follows the success of the E-ST 500, which debuted last year.
The E-EXPL 900 comes equipped with a Mahle X30 rear hub motor, delivering 45 Nm of torque, and a 237Wh battery concealed in the frame, offering between 60 to 100 km (~37 to 62 miles) of electric assistance range, depending on conditions.
Weighing approximately 16 kg (~35 lbs), the 9-speed e-bike also features a RockShox Judy RK suspension fork with 80 mm travel, Hutchinson Toro 26” tires, and Tektro hydraulic disc brakes, ensuring a smooth and safe ride for kids between 135 and 150 cm (~4’ 5” and 4’ 11”) tall.
The Mahle motor adds just 1.9 kg (~4.2 lbs) to the overall weight, making it a relatively lightweight option for young mountain bikers.
Pricing for the Decathlon Rockrider E-EXPL 900 is estimated at around €1,800, with sources suggesting it could launch in Europe as early as May 2025, though other reports hint at a September release.
Additionally, there are discussions about the e-bike being available for rental, although its release in the UK is still uncertain.
