DB Schenker has concluded a year-long trial of two Fuso eCanter electric trucks in northern Finland, reporting that the vehicles performed reliably despite extreme winter conditions.
The logistics firm deployed the light-duty electric trucks in customer operations, demonstrating their ability to withstand temperatures as low as -30 degrees Celsius. “We have been successfully operating two electric trucks in Finland for a year now. With this successful deployment of electric trucks in a region like Lapland, which has difficult weather conditions, we are proving once again that DB Schenker is leading the way to a sustainable future of logistics,” said Tristan Keusgen, Head of European Fleet Management at DB Schenker.
The eCanter units were primarily used for regional and local transport. According to Keusgen, their robust design and advanced technology ensured a continuous supply chain and reliable service for customers. The trucks were charged overnight to be ready for daily operations, though DB Schenker did not disclose the specific battery configurations used in Finland.
DB Schenker has been operating Fuso eCanter trucks since 2018, particularly for last-mile deliveries. The latest-generation model offers three battery options, ranging from 41.3 kWh to 123.9 kWh, with an estimated driving range of 80 to 200 kilometers. The company currently operates around 50 eCanter trucks across various European markets.
