Daimler Truck has delivered the first Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 electric trucks to customers in Belgium, marking a milestone for the commercial use of its long-haul battery-electric vehicle in the country. Logistics firms VM-Milktrans and its sister company Sovedo Logistics have received two of the six trucks ordered, with plans to integrate them into their milk collection logistics fleet across Belgium.
The deployment of the electric trucks is part of a broader agreement that also includes financing, leasing, battery solutions, and charging infrastructure. The initial two eActros 600s are now operating alongside newly installed in-house charging stations at the companies’ premises. According to the firms, the stations—equipped with solar-powered battery storage—allow up to four vehicles to charge simultaneously and are strategically used during drivers’ legally mandated breaks to maximize daily range.
“Our aim is to collect and deliver milk in a way that’s more sustainable while keeping operational efficiency high,” a representative from Sovedo Logistics said in a statement. “With the eActros 600 and supporting infrastructure, we can achieve over 1,000 kilometers of transport performance per day.”
The vehicles were acquired through eService Leasing, the financial services arm of Daimler Truck AG, which bundles trucks, batteries, and charging systems under a single lease agreement. The vehicle procurement and handover were managed by Daimler Truck BeLux and the Van Mossel-Vereenooghe dealership. Charging solutions were developed and installed by Thoré and Lanoye Technics.
Mercedes-Benz Trucks introduced several variants of the eActros 600 earlier this year, including configurations with different cab styles, battery capacities, and platform layouts. The exact specification of the units delivered to the Belgian logistics firms has not been disclosed.
