Logistics service provider Dachser is increasing its fleet with 15 electric trucks from Renault Trucks. These all-electric vehicles will be utilized for local and long-distance transport routes on a daily basis at seven Dachser locations in Germany.

Five Renault Trucks E-Tech D electric trucks are already operational for Dachser, with an additional seven vehicles of this type and three E-Tech T tractor units currently being delivered. The E-Tech D is a 16-tonne electric truck with a payload of up to 8.75 tonnes and offers various battery configurations ranging from 200 to 565 kWh. The larger battery option provides a range of up to 560 kilometers.

The E-Tech T, on the other hand, is a heavy-duty truck with a gross vehicle weight of up to 44 tonnes, designed primarily for regional transport. Its range of up to 500 kilometers includes a one-hour charging stop.

Alexander Tonn, COO of Road Logistics at Dachser, emphasizes the company’s commitment to sustainability: “We are convinced that only companies that position themselves sustainably will have a long-term future. We therefore want to make a valuable contribution to environmental and climate protection and be a driving force for the logistics industry with measures on many levels.”

Dachser’s sustainability strategy includes gradually transitioning to zero-emission vehicles and the necessary charging infrastructure. Since January 2022, the company has been sourcing all of its electricity worldwide from renewable energy sources. Dachser plans to increase the number of battery electric vehicle (BEV) and fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) trucks in its network based on performance, charging infrastructure, and cost-effectiveness.

Frederic Ruesche, Managing Director of Renault Trucks in Germany, highlights the collaborative effort in achieving climate protection goals: “We at Renault Trucks are aware that we can only implement a long-term climate protection strategy if we work together. I am therefore all the more pleased that we are working with Dachser to drive forward the reduction of EV emissions in the short and long-haul sector.”
