Cooper Bikes has just introduced what it calls the 2nd Generation Cooper E-Bikes for urban mobility. There are a total of four new electric bicycle models aimed at urban and lifestyle groups.
All four electric bike models are powered by Zehus Gen2 Heckmotor. The system consists of a 40Nm hub motor combined with a 173 Wh battery.
For the size of the 173 Wh battery, it is certainly too small for electric bicycles of its contemporaries. However, Zehus’ kinetic energy recovery (KERS) system via regenerative braking on the bike can recharge
battery temporarily.

Of the four models introduced, the most affordable is the CS-1E which comes with a single speed and retro-style design. The CS-1E features Gates belt drive instead of chains making it quieter and less maintenance. The CS-1E retails for 2,399 Euros or about $2,495 USD.
Next up, Classic Ladies and Classic Gents 7-speeds, or the CL-7E and CG-7E respectively. This electric bicycle for urban mobility comes with a trendy design and seven-speed drive, which takes the form of a conventional hybrid bicycle.
The Classic Ladies version has an easy-to-access step-through frame. Each sells for 2,499 Euros, or the equivalent of $2,599 USD.
The final model is the CR-7E, which uses a similar styling to the CG-7E, but with drop handlebars. The price is also 2,499 Euros or the equivalent of $2,599 USD.
