Charging infrastructure specialist Compleo, in collaboration with parent company Kostal, will present their complete AC bidirectional charging system at Power2Drive Europe. The system is designed for car manufacturers and industrial companies, positioning Compleo and Kostal as key players in the European bidirectional charging market.
The new system integrates an onboard charger in the vehicle with a matching wallbox, which will be available for the mass market in 2027. The bidirectional charging technology, which enables vehicles to feed energy back into the grid (V2G), allows drivers to charge when energy is abundant and provide energy back to the grid during peak demand. This technology supports grid stabilization and maximizes the use of renewable energy when it is most available.

Compleo is partnering with ChargeOne, a charge point operator (CPO), and software provider vaylens to present the bidirectional system at the event. According to Dr. Björn Dietrich, CEO of Compleo, “While others are still talking about concepts and ideas, we are creating reality: a Europe-wide certified system consisting of an onboard charger from KOSTAL in combination with the AC bidi wallbox from Compleo, which combines communication, safety and efficiency. This benefits all players in the energy transition equally.”
The bidirectional system will focus on maximum compatibility, seamless integration, and open interfaces to meet the demands of the evolving e-mobility market. Dr. Dietrich added, “If you take bidirectional charging seriously, you need a functioning overall system. We will be supplying the core of the charger inside and outside the vehicle, ready for series production from 2027. All components are certified accordingly and therefore offer maximum investment security. Requirements arising from new regulations in the future can be flexibly integrated via software updates.”

Compleo and Kostal are also preparing to introduce the eTower 200 fast charging station at Power2Drive Europe. The station, first revealed in November 2023, features particularly quiet operation, high efficiency of 97.5%, and a space-saving design. Compleo will also showcase the WireHub installation aid, which is designed to simplify the installation of the eTower 200.
At Power2Drive, Compleo and Kostal aim to engage with OEMs, charging infrastructure operators, and e-mobility providers to advance bidirectional charging and further the development of practical, future-proof charging infrastructure for electric vehicles.
