Chrysler (FCA US LLC) has issued a safety recall for 790 units of its 2024–2025 Ram ProMaster electric vans due to a software malfunction that could cause the vehicles to lose drive power unexpectedly. The recall, filed with the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) under campaign number 25V665, identifies a defect in the Motor Control Processor (MCP) software that may fail to properly manage torque spikes, potentially damaging the differential housing.
According to Chrysler’s report, the defect may lead to a loss of propulsion (LOP) without warning, heightening the risk of a crash. The affected vehicles were manufactured between August 31, 2023, and July 17, 2025, and the company estimates that all recalled units contain the faulty software. Vehicles built outside this timeframe were either fitted with corrected software or built after the issue was resolved. The Electric Drive Module (EDM) component linked to the defect is supplied by Jing-Jin Electric North America LLC.

“An unexpected loss of propulsion can increase the risk of a crash without warning,” Chrysler said in its recall filing. The company noted that, while two field reports may be related to the issue, no accidents or injuries have been reported as of late September 2025. Chrysler began investigating the matter in March 2025 following alerts from a European plant concerning similar failures in Fiat Ducato models.
To fix the problem, dealers will reprogram multiple control modules—including the MCP, Battery Processor Control Module (BPCM), Integrated Dual Charge Module (IDCM), and the Electric Vehicle Control Unit (eVCU). Technicians will also inspect the EDM and replace it if necessary. All repairs will be performed free of charge.

Dealers are scheduled to receive recall notifications by October 16, 2025, with owner notification letters expected to be mailed starting October 30, 2025. Chrysler’s internal reference number for the campaign is 98C.
