Tesla reported robust sales of 94,139 China-made vehicles in December, marking the second-highest monthly figure on record, according to data released by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

The December sales figures, which include exports to overseas markets, demonstrated a 68.72% increase year-on-year and a 14.2% rise from November 2023. This performance follows November 2022’s record of 100,291 units.

In the fourth quarter of 2023, Tesla sold a total of 248,686 China-made vehicles, reflecting a 9.17% YoY increase and an 11.76% uptick from the third quarter. The global deliveries for the fourth quarter reached 484,507 vehicles, as per Tesla’s recent release.

China-made vehicles accounted for 51.33% of Tesla’s global deliveries in Q4, a slight increase from 51.15% in the previous quarter. For the entire year of 2023, Tesla achieved sales of 947,742 China-made vehicles, representing a significant 33.32% growth from the 2022 figure of 710,865.

Tesla’s Shanghai factory, currently boasting a capacity of over 950,000 vehicles per year, serves as the company’s largest production facility worldwide, producing the Model 3 sedan and Model Y crossover. The factory caters to both local consumers and serves as an export hub for Tesla.

While the breakdown of local deliveries versus exports is currently unavailable, China-made vehicles contributed 52.4% to Tesla’s global deliveries in 2023, totaling 1,808,581 units for the year.
