Chery, the Chinese automotive manufacturer, has unveiled its latest extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs), the Luxeed R7 Max RWD and Luxeed R7 Ultra AWD, offering advanced hybrid systems and cutting-edge technology developed in collaboration with Huawei.
These vehicles combine conventional internal combustion engines (ICE) with electric motors, optimizing fuel efficiency and driving ranges that extend up to 1,673 kilometers (1,039 miles) for the R7 Max RWD.
The Luxeed R7 Ultra AWD, featuring a 1.5T 4-cylinder engine and dual Huawei DriveONE motors, delivers a maximum range of 1,551 kilometers (964 miles).
The rear-wheel drive R7 Max RWD, equipped with a single 227kW electric motor, reaches an impressive 1,673 kilometers on a full tank. Both models feature rapid charging capabilities, with the 53.4 kWh battery capable of charging from 20% to 80% in just 15 minutes.
In terms of performance, the R7 Max RWD achieves a 0-100 km/h time of 4.9 seconds, while the R7 Ultra AWD takes 7.4 seconds to reach the same speed.
Both models are part of Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) initiative and come equipped with the latest HarmonyOS 4 and Huawei Qiankun driver assistance systems.
The Luxeed R7 Max RWD is priced at 299,800 yuan ($41,000), while the Ultra AWD starts at 319,800 yuan ($44,000), positioning them as premium offerings in China’s growing EV market.
