Anhui Anwa New Energy Technology, partially owned by Chery New Energy and Gotion High-Tech, has completed the production of its first batch of engineering samples for solid-state batteries (SSBs), according to a report by Dawang News. The rollout took place at Anwa’s facility in the Wuhu Economic and Technological Development Zone and marks a significant step toward large-scale SSB production in China.
Founded in June 2020, Anwa is 9.89% owned by Chery New Energy and 5.89% by Gotion High-Tech. The new batteries—described by Anwa as meeting the “No Fire No Explosion” safety benchmark—deliver an energy density of 300 Wh/kg. The company has also initiated trial production for a second-generation version rated at 400 Wh/kg, while volume assembly of a third-generation 500 Wh/kg battery is scheduled for 2027.
The current facility integrates eight manufacturing processes in a 35-meter-long production line, with a planned capacity of 1.25 GWh. Production speed reaches 20 meters per minute and uses laser slitting to mitigate dust pollution. Anwa employs a five-step dry process, which the company says reduces energy consumption by 20% and fixed asset investment by 30% compared to traditional manufacturing methods.
In the longer term, Anwa plans to build a 5 GWh solid-state battery R&D center and expand its automated production capabilities. Although no specific vehicles have yet been announced to use the batteries, Chery’s Exeed Exlantix ET was previously seen in China with “All-solid-state battery” markings, suggesting a possible future integration.
