ChargePoint has entered into a partnership with OBE Power to deploy electric vehicle charging infrastructure at multifamily residential properties across North America.

Under the agreement, OBE Power plans to install around 2,500 EV charging ports beginning in 2026, with ChargePoint serving as the company’s exclusive charging technology provider.

The partnership combines ChargePoint’s charging hardware and software with OBE Power’s owned-and-operated infrastructure model, under which OBE finances, deploys and manages the charging systems directly.

The companies said they have already aligned their multifamily housing development pipelines and expect deployment activity to begin in the near term.

According to the companies, the turnkey model is designed to reduce operational and financial barriers for landlords and property owners seeking to add EV charging infrastructure.

OBE Power will oversee charging station operations and maintenance, including repairs, driver support, insurance services and energy reimbursement management. The company will also manage carbon credit revenue associated with the installations.

The agreement expands an existing relationship between the two companies that previously focused on EV charging projects in the hospitality sector.

With the new initiative, ChargePoint and OBE Power are shifting attention toward the multifamily residential segment, which has become an increasingly important market for EV charging providers as electric vehicle adoption rises across North America.

Rick Wilmer, chief executive of ChargePoint, said the partnership is intended to simplify EV charging deployment for apartment and residential property owners.

“ChargePoint and OBE Power are expanding our relationship from hotels and hospitality into multifamily housing, which has long lacked a simple and scalable path for EV charging,” Wilmer said.

“Together, we are enabling drivers to charge where they live.”

Alejandro Burgana, cofounder and managing director of OBE Power, said the companies were building on a long-standing collaboration in EV charging deployment.

“By combining ChargePoint’s technology with OBE Power’s owned-and-operated model, we deliver EV charging solutions purpose-built for multifamily communities,” Burgana said.
