ChargePoint and Dabaja Brothers Development Group have launched a new ultra-fast electric vehicle charging site in Canton, Michigan, marking the first phase of a wider fast-charging rollout across the Detroit metropolitan area, the companies said. Additional locations are planned at Dabaja Brothers-owned properties in Dearborn and Livonia as part of a broader effort to address gaps in regional EV charging access.
The partnership aims to deploy more than 40 charging ports across multiple retail and commercial sites, allowing drivers to charge while shopping, dining or visiting nearby businesses. ChargePoint Chief Executive Rick Wilmer said parts of the region remain underserved by fast charging infrastructure, effectively creating “fast charging deserts” that limit EV adoption.

“We started this project because we saw a gap in our community—there was almost nowhere to charge an EV in Canton, and a similar lack of charging across metro Detroit,” said Yousef Dabaja, owner and operator of Dabaja Brothers Development Group. He said the company intends to use its real estate footprint to help accelerate public access to fast charging.
Each site will feature ChargePoint Express Plus stations designed to support simultaneous dual-vehicle charging with sustained peak speeds, supported by the company’s proprietary cooling architecture. The installations will also be integrated with the new ChargePoint Platform software, which provides real-time monitoring, performance tracking, dynamic pricing tools and customer service functions for site operators.

ChargePoint said the Detroit-area expansion will form part of its wider North American network, which currently connects drivers to more than 1.25 million charging ports globally and has supported over 16 billion electric miles driven to date. The companies did not disclose the total investment value or commissioning timeline for all planned sites beyond the initial Canton location.
