CATL has opened its largest Ning Service battery centre outside Asia in Oslo, establishing an 8,000-square-metre facility dedicated to battery diagnostics, repair and life-extension services for Norway and neighbouring Nordic markets.

The facility expands CATL’s aftermarket operations in a region with a high level of electric vehicle adoption. Battery-electric vehicles accounted for 98.7% of new car registrations in Norway in August 2026, according to the company.

Battery Repair and Lifecycle Services

Ning Service is CATL’s aftermarket business and provides services covering battery maintenance, testing, repair, second-life applications, insurance and recycling.

CATL said the business has reduced the turnaround time for complex battery repairs from 72 hours to 48 hours. Its in-depth repair services currently cover 76.8% of electric vehicle models, according to the company.

As Norway’s growing EV fleet enters older stages of operation, the ability to repair and extend battery life could become increasingly relevant to vehicle owners and service providers.

Benedikt G. Gudmundsson, Founder and Chairman of YES-EU Group, said the partnership combines CATL’s battery technology and industry expertise with local service capabilities.

“CATL brings technology, industry expertise and a trusted brand. Combined with YES-EU’s local knowledge and service capabilities, we can build a stronger battery service ecosystem across the Nordics and support the long-term growth of Europe’s EV market,” Gudmundsson said.

Bruce Li, President of Quality Systems, Aftermarket Business Division at CATL, said the company intends to provide battery lifecycle services tailored to Norway’s electric vehicle market.

“Customers are at the heart of everything we do at NING SERVICE. Working closely with our local partners, we will provide reliable battery lifecycle services that meet the needs of Norway’s EV market and support its continued electrification,” Li said.

Oslo Facility to Serve as Nordic Training Hub

The Oslo centre will serve as Ning Service’s main training hub for the Nordic region. CATL said the facility will be supported by 14 instructors and linked to a wider training network covering 39 European countries.

The centre will also operate as a sales agent for CATL partners working in electric vessels, aircraft and robotics. The partners include electric aircraft company AutoFlight and robotics company Galbot.

The expanded service infrastructure gives CATL a presence further downstream in the EV battery lifecycle, covering not only diagnostics and repairs but also potential second-life applications and recycling.

Ning Service Targets Global Expansion

CATL said Ning Service currently operates 1,394 locations across 85 countries and regions. The business has set a target of reaching 10,000 locations by 2030.

The Oslo facility forms part of that expansion as CATL seeks to build a broader aftermarket network around electric vehicle batteries. With EV adoption increasing and vehicle fleets gradually ageing, the company is expanding services intended to keep batteries in operation for longer and support their reuse or recycling after automotive use.
