Canoo Awarded Contract by Defense Innovation Unit for Battery Module Supply

The Defense Innovation Unit has given Canoo a contract for battery module supply for testing and demonstration. This supports the U.S. Department of Defense’s effort to incorporate scalable and adaptable capabilities in tactical situations.

“We are very proud to be selected by the Department of Defense and to contribute to our country’s global defense technology leadership. This award is another example of our focus and commitment to innovation. We’ve worked hard and continue to develop our patented technologies and ability to deliver flexible, on-demand energy solutions that are multi-purpose capable to serve America’s interests and its allies around the world,” said Tony Aquila, Chairman & CEO at Canoo.

Canoo has announced the development of a groundbreaking battery system. The system boasts a modular design, allowing it to be tailored to various vehicle configurations and deliver top-notch energy density. Additionally, the battery system is designed to adapt and evolve as advancements are made in battery cell technology.

This news comes on the heels of Canoo’s recent achievements in the industry. In November, the company successfully delivered a Light Tactical Vehicle (LTV) to the U.S. Army. Furthermore, Canoo was chosen by NASA to provide crew transportation vehicles for the Artemis lunar landing missions. These milestones further solidify Canoo’s reputation as a leader in cutting-edge electric vehicle technology.
