Fang Cheng Bao, a sub-brand of BYD, has introduced Smart Driving Edition variants of its Bao 5 off-road SUV, following a similar move by BYD earlier this month.
The new Bao 5 variants, launched on Tuesday, are available in four options, with two featuring BYDâs God’s Eye C intelligent driving system and the other two equipped with Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 3.0 system. Pricing starts at RMB 239,800 ($33,090) for the base model, rising to RMB 259,800, RMB 284,800, and RMB 329,800 for the higher-tier variants.

The two lower-priced models use BYD’s God’s Eye C system, which does not include LiDAR, with deliveries expected in mid-March. The two higher-end versions integrate Huaweiâs Qiankun ADS 3.0 smart driving system, featuring a 192-channel LiDAR mounted on the roof, with deliveries set for April.
BYD announced its vehicle intelligence strategy on February 10, rolling out Smart Driving Edition updates across 21 models under its main brand. The company’s God’s Eye system, unveiled at the time, includes different tiersâGod’s Eye A, B, and Câwith the C version primarily aimed at more affordable models. Huaweiâs Qiankun ADS 3.0, introduced in April 2024, enables advanced autonomous driving functions, including urban Navigate on Autopilot (NOA).

Fang Cheng Bao previously launched the Bao 8 on November 12, 2024, marking the first BYD Group vehicle to feature Huaweiâs smart driving system. With the Bao 5 Smart Driving Edition, the model becomes the second within BYD Group to integrate Huaweiâs technology.
The new Bao 5 variants retain the same specifications as the regular model, with dimensions of 4,890 mm in length, 1,970 mm in width, and 1,920 mm in height, along with a 2,800 mm wheelbase. The five-seat hybrid SUV features dual electric motors producing 505 kW and 760 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in 4.8 seconds.

BYD introduced the Fang Cheng Bao brand on August 16, 2023, with the Bao 5 debuting as its first model on November 9, 2023. The initial version of the Bao 5 was equipped with FiPilot, Fang Cheng Baoâs proprietary driver assistance system.
