Denza, the premium new energy vehicle (NEV) sub-brand of China’s BYD, has revealed its first concept sports car, the Denza Z, at an event that highlighted new proprietary technologies targeting the high-performance segment.
The Denza Z adopts the brand’s “Pure Emotion” design language, aiming to integrate aerodynamic elements with functional design features for track-oriented performance. The company said the concept model is designed to combine aesthetics and engineering in a vehicle intended for both road and circuit use.

The sports car will feature BYD’s newly introduced DiSus-M system, a variant of the DiSus body control platform. This marks the first time the magnetorheological-based suspension technology has been applied to an NEV concept. The system allows for fast, two-way stepless adjustments in rebound and compression damping, with a damping force build-up time of under 10 milliseconds, according to Denza. It is also compatible with road pre-scan systems to optimize comfort across varying road surfaces.

Also debuting in the concept is BYD’s steer-by-wire technology, which replaces traditional mechanical steering linkages. Denza said the system enables a folding steering wheel and removes the need for a conventional steering column, improving cockpit safety and flexibility.

The Denza Z will be equipped with BYD’s e3 powertrain, a tri-motor independent drive system that includes dual-motor independent steering on the rear axle. The e3 system is considered a scaled-down version of BYD’s e4 platform, which is used in ultra-luxury models under the Yangwang brand.
The introduction of the Denza Z expands the brand’s product lineup and signals BYD’s intent to bring proprietary high-performance technology and luxury features to the sports car market. Denza did not confirm a production timeline for the concept vehicle.
