BYD has announced the launch of two updated models from its Ocean series, the Song Plus Glory Edition and the Seal DM-i Glory Edition. These updates follow a trend set earlier this month, with BYD significantly reducing the starting prices of these models.
Part of BYD’s Ocean series, these models join the brand’s other popular lineup, the Dynasty series, which recently saw updates to its flagship models, the Han and Tang, now also available in Glory Editions.

The Song family, however, presents a unique challenge in BYD’s lineup, as it includes both Dynasty and Ocean models. The Song Pro DM-i and Song Max DM-i belong to the Dynasty series, while the Song Plus DM-i and Song Plus EV are part of the Ocean series, the only models named after a Chinese dynasty in this lineup.
In the Ocean series, BYD names its models after sea creatures and ships, with DM indicating a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and EV indicating a battery electric vehicle (BEV).
