BYD will introduce in-car parking payments powered by Parkopedia in its production vehicles beginning in early 2027, expanding its connected vehicle ecosystem with integrated parking services across Europe.
The new service, branded ParkPay, will run on Android Automotive OS with Google built-in, allowing drivers to locate, pay for and manage parking sessions directly through the vehicle’s infotainment system.
ParkPay to Debut in Production Vehicles
Parkopedia, the Automotive & Data brand of mobility platform Arrive, will provide both parking data and integrated payment functionality for the service.
ParkPay will be pre-installed on new BYD models, including the Denza Z9 GT and BYD Atto 3 Evo, while compatible existing vehicles will receive the feature through over-the-air software updates.
The rollout will initially focus on Europe.
Simplified In-Car Parking Experience
When a BYD vehicle detects that it has entered a supported parking location, the system will display an on-screen notification inviting the driver to pay through ParkPay.
Selecting the notification automatically opens the application with the appropriate parking location pre-selected, enabling users to begin a parking session with only a few taps.
The platform also supports parking notifications and automatic session termination, helping drivers avoid unnecessary parking charges.
In addition, BYD vehicles will integrate RingGo parking payments in the United Kingdom and EasyPark services across Europe.
Future Expansion Beyond Parking
Following the initial rollout, BYD plans to expand the service to include additional mobility features, including:
- Public EV charging payments
- Toll road payments
- Parking reservations
These functions will be delivered through BYD’s connected mobility platform, creating a unified in-car payment ecosystem.
Parkopedia currently operates across more than 90 countries, providing location data and payment services for parking, electric vehicle charging, fuel and tolls.
Partnership Supports Connected Mobility Strategy
Duncan Licence, Head of Automotive & Data at Arrive, said the partnership will enhance the digital experience for BYD customers.
“We are proud to provide BYD with our connected services to ensure that BYD drivers can benefit from seamless in-car experiences. BYD is leading the industry by showing the importance of supporting cutting-edge hardware development with a robust, data-driven in-car driver experience,” Licence said.
BYD Executive Vice President Stella Li said the company remains focused on making advanced technologies more accessible to customers.
“We’re pleased to partner with Parkopedia to provide streamlined in-car parking payments that will further simplify the user experience for our drivers. Innovation plays a significant role in BYD’s products, and this latest ParkPay service forms part of our next-generation connected-car experience,” Li said.
