BYD, the Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer, has signed a partnership with Mega Motor Company (MMC) and Hub Power Company (HUBCO) to develop Pakistan’s largest electric vehicle charging network, marking a significant milestone in the country’s transition toward electric mobility.
The collaboration aims to install around 128 DC fast chargers across Pakistan over the next three years, with 50 chargers expected to be operational by December 2025. Chargers will be positioned every 150–200 km along key highways and motorways, and placed at strategic urban locations including shopping malls, hotels, and hospitals.

“This nation-wide rollout of infrastructure marks one of the most significant developments in the country’s shift towards electric mobility by addressing a critical gap in Pakistan’s EV ecosystem,” BYD said in a statement. “As part of this strategic and groundbreaking roadmap, HGL will install approximately 128 DC fast chargers across the country over the next three years.”
The announcement comes as Pakistan struggles to meet its electric mobility targets, with the market still dominated by internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles and two- or three-wheeled petrol vehicles. One of the primary hurdles remains the lack of charging infrastructure, particularly beyond major urban centres.

Danish Khaliq, Vice President of Sales at BYD Pakistan, said: “Range anxiety remains one of the most significant barriers to NEV adoption across Pakistan. Through this groundbreaking partnership with HUBCO Green, we are not just addressing a logistical issue but shaping the entire mobility landscape of the country.”
The initiative follows several government measures earlier this year, including a 44% reduction in energy tariffs, the introduction of a 15-day fast-track registration system for EV charging stations, and a financing scheme for electric bikes and petrol vehicle conversions.
The charging network project also builds on BYD’s broader ambitions in Pakistan. The company previously announced plans to establish Pakistan’s first BEV assembly plant and to open three flagship stores in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad.
