BYD’s sub-brand Fang Cheng Bao has officially revealed the name of its upcoming SUV model as Tai 7. The announcement was made via the company’s official Weibo account, which also featured an image of the camouflaged vehicle.
While detailed specifications have yet to be disclosed, the Tai 7 is anticipated to be a larger, more family-focused offering compared to the Tai 3. The new model is likely aimed at strengthening the brand’s position in China’s mainstream electric SUV market, particularly in segments with strong demand for spacious, family-oriented vehicles.
Fang Cheng Bao, launched by BYD in August 2023, currently markets the Bao 5 and Bao 8 off-road SUVs under its Bao series, as well as the Tai 3 compact SUV under its Tai series.
The Tai 3, which evolved from the Super 3 concept car and was initially known as Bao 3, entered China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) regulatory directory before being rebranded and launched officially in April 2025 at a starting price of RMB 133,800.
Tai 3 recently led weekly sales among A-segment pure electric SUVs in China, with cumulative deliveries surpassing 10,000 units by early June, according to the company. The Tai 7 is expected to build on this momentum and further diversify the brand’s portfolio within the electric SUV space.
