BYD reported sales of 441,706 new energy vehicles (NEVs) in October, its highest monthly total of the year, though still 12.1% lower than the same month in 2024. The result marked the company’s second consecutive month of year-on-year decline but an 11.5% increase from September, according to company data.

The total included 436,856 passenger NEVs, down 12.7% year-on-year but up 11.1% from September, and 4,850 commercial NEVs, which surged 127.6% from a year earlier and 51.1% month-on-month.

Battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales reached 222,559 units, rising 17.4% year-on-year and 8.5% from September. Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) sales stood at 214,297 units, marking a 31.1% year-on-year decrease — the seventh straight month of contraction — despite a 14.0% rebound from September.

Overseas NEV sales rose sharply to 83,904 units, up 169.0% year-on-year and 17.8% month-on-month, underscoring the automaker’s continued international expansion.

Among its brands, BYD’s Dynasty and Ocean series passenger vehicles recorded sales of 395,015 units in October, down 17.9% from a year earlier but up 12.2% from September. Fang Cheng Bao achieved record monthly deliveries of 31,052 units, a 415.3% surge year-on-year and a 28.7% increase from the previous month, driven largely by the strong performance of the new Tai 7 model, which sold 20,024 units in October.

Denza delivered 10,135 vehicles, down 6.0% year-on-year and 18.3% month-on-month, while Yangwang sold 654 units, up 131.9% from a year earlier but down 13.7% from September.

BYD also reported that its installed capacity of power and energy storage batteries reached about 27.36 GWh in October, a 30.2% year-on-year increase and a 17.9% rise from September. The company remains China’s largest NEV manufacturer and the nation’s second-largest power battery producer.
