BYD has announced that the SEALION 7, a new electric SUV, will be available in the UK starting from £44,990 in Q1 2025. The vehicle is the latest addition to BYD’s growing European portfolio, joining other models in the Ocean Series. The SEALION 7 offers a range of advanced features, including rapid charging capabilities, a spacious interior, and cutting-edge EV technology.
As the seventh pure-electric model from BYD in Europe, the SEALION 7 is built for tech-savvy families seeking both performance and sustainability. It boasts a WLTP range of up to 312 miles, a 0-62 mph acceleration time of 4.5 seconds, and a top speed of 113 mph. The SEALION 7 is built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 and features the Blade Battery, which provides enhanced safety and efficiency.
“We have developed a reliable and efficient electric vehicle designed to meet the needs of modern drivers while reducing environmental impact,” said Laurent Couturier, RFID system designer at Michelin. The SEALION 7 will be available in three trims—Comfort, Design, and Excellence—offering a variety of configurations to suit different preferences for performance and range.
The SUV’s design, led by BYD’s Global Design Director Wolfgang Egger, incorporates elements from the Ocean Series, such as the “X face” front and water-drop taillights. With an overall length of 4,830 mm and a 2,930 mm wheelbase, the SEALION 7 offers a roomy interior, with premium features like heated and ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, and ample storage space.
The SEALION 7 is also equipped with advanced driver-assistance systems, including adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and 360-degree cameras, ensuring a safe and comfortable driving experience. The vehicle will be available with both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive options, each offering varying battery capacities and fast-charging capabilities.
